Campus Face Lift

Most of us remember WT's campus as a pretty simple place to navigate. You either drove through campus or around it when trying to get from Point A to Point B. Well now - there's no driving through campus.

A couple of years ago WT began construction on a Pedestrian Mall. So to visualize where this is imagine yourself walking out of the JBK facing Old Main (for those of you with directional sense - going South). If you were to walk to the Ag Building you would have to cross the street - right? Well now, that's where we find the new Pedestrian Mall.

I saw it before it was finished and this July 4th took my family to campus a little early so we could see it finished.

It is nice - different but nice. I'm sure it will become a campus focal point and a place where folks get engaged and stuff. Awww, how sweet.

In the center of the mall is a granite sculpture titled The Original Texans. The buffalo and her calf are set atop a water feature and pergola. If you want to watch it's progress:

Here's an article in The Canyon News and here's a link to a campus map (highlighting the library - you know that place you said you were going).

At the north end of the mall (think in front of Guenther Hall or out beside the mail boxes in the JBK) they are building a new clock tower.
